Worship God with the faith and trust of a child
I would encourage you to worship God with the faith and trust of a child... fully and completely dependent on the One who is 100% trustworthy. (Psalm 145:13)
What do the sayings "children should be seen and not heard" and "children are the future of the church" have in common? They are both misconceptions of children's roles in a church.
At Rutherford Bible Chapel, we believe that children are not only the future of the church... they are active members of the church now! At RBC, children participate in worship, learning, service, fellowship, and spreading God's love to others around them through outreach events.
Jesus did not minimize the role of children in His Kingdom. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Jesus celebrated children! In Mark 10:14-15, Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."
Before children experience the negative aspects of living in this fallen world, they fully and completely trust those around them. When they are hungry, they expect to get food. When they cross a street, they hold your hand, fully trusting that you will get them safely across the street. It is this kind of complete trust in Jesus and His plan of salvation that Jesus says is necessary to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
While there are some who believe that Children & Youth Ministries are just baby-sitting or something to keep kids entertained, we view our Children & Youth Programs as worship! We show children & youth how to worship God by teaching them Bible lessons, helping them understand God's plan of salvation, and growing in their walk with God. Not only do we worship in the church building, but we encourage the children to continue their worship at home and in their everyday lives.
